In 2012 the Maya's calendar ends with a world changing viral disease that brings the dead back to life. Hannah Winter is the head of Information technology at Biogenetics & Disease Control, a medical research company deep beneath the city of Dulce, New Mexico. Hannah is hopeful to reunite with her sister Jenna, who is struggling against all odds to travel from San Antonio, Texas to New Mexico to be with her. Julie Mehta, a staff virologist of the BDC, works diligently to develop a vaccine to prevent the living from contracting the virus, in a race against time for human survival.
