Producers' note
The selections on this compilation were transferred from the original full-track mono masters, recorded and mixed at Motown's legendary Hitsville Studios in Detroit, with the following exceptions: Basic tracks for "When I Feel The Need" and "This Love Starved Heart Of Mine" were recorded in Los Angeles. | Individual overdubs for some of the other tunes were recorded at "Studio B" - Golden World Studios in Detroit, less than five minutes from Hitsville. | "For Both Of Us I'll Be Concerned", "Darling You're Wonderful" and "Sad Souvenirs" were mixed specifically for this collection from the eight-track masters, as no original mixes exist. | "Dark Side Of The World", "I'm In Love With You", "Baby I'm Glad That..." and "Loving And Affection" were originally released in overdubbed, remixed form on the album Motown Remembers Marvin Gaye: Never Before Released Masters (Tamla 6172), 1986. This collection features the previously unreleased original Detroit/Hitsville mixes.
