For this new version of the music from Porgy & Bess, Daniel Kobialka’s violin and the orchestra is joined by James Scott Balentine on reeds plus guests Jennifer Berg on English horn, Martha Long on flute and bass flute, and percussionist Mason Macias. The arrangements are quite moody and atmospheric, blending classical music with bits of jazz and giving listeners a fresh look into the classic Gershwin songs.
