Phenominal This is one of those "if I were to do it over again" moments.  Having lived in Germany as an army brat at that time, I wish I would have been aware enough to know about Weather Report.  I would have pleaded with my parents to take me to this show so that I could have witnessed first hand what it means to be in the company of greatness.  Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius and Peter Erskine created the preeminent jazz fusion band.  The quality of the musicianship along with the blend of songwriting styles are qualities that differentiated this group from all the others.  Zawinal and Shorter, the founders of Weather Report, each brought a sense of sophistication and subtlety I assume originates from their place birth and early childhood:  Zawinal was from Austria, Shorter from the United States.  To that end, some songs have that almost carousel ride like melody with the accompaniment of a bebop montage that is truly unlike any sound before and after this brilliant group.  Of course, the contributions of Pastorius and Erskine cannot be understated.  I would highly suggest you make a purchase.
