The hunter, Kerioth, is pursuing a rare beast whose blood will buy his freedom. His hunt is successful, but he loses the creature's corpse under strange circumstances soon after. While tracking the scant trail, Kerioth encounters an injured man on the road who changes his life in unexpected ways.
