The United State of Mind and a Happy Birthday

A dear friend reminded me that today is Robin Trower's birthday. ?HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBIN!!!?  I wish you another 76 years.

Are you sitting at the bottom of the stairs?  I want to share a song with you that you shared with us many years ago:  Birthday Boy.

Down at the bottom of the stairs sits the birthday boy
Reading letters in between the lines
Ready for a little trip to the seaside
Hoping he can make it there on time
Sitting in the station watching choo choo trains
With wheels to take him clicking down the line
The sky is getting darker, but if it rains
It's nicer when the sun comes out to shine
He's had a busy day, tomorrow's on it's way
Time to leave the sea, and hurry home for
Tea is waiting on the table for the birthday boy
Grandfather's clock is ticking in the hall
Sitting by the fire, now the birthday boy
Is feeling very sleepy, very small
He's had a busy day, tomorrow's on it's way
Time to leave the sea, time to leave the sea
He's had a busy day, tomorrow's on it's way
Time to leave the sea, time to leave the sea
Time to leave the sea, time to leave the sea
Time to leave the sea, time to leave the sea
Time to leave the sea, time to leave the sea

Although it's Robin's birthday and not mine, I feel as though I'm the one presented with the greatest gift:  United State of Mind, Trower's soon to be released album that features Maxi Priest and Livingston Brown.  I'm absolutely dumb founded that two of my favorite artists joined forces to produce what I have read and heard to be an incredibly rich, soulful sounding production.  Not to be greedy, but... Please grace us with your presence and tour the United States together especially Denver, Colorado.  December would be best as that is the month of my birthday.?

  • My first Billy Idol show ever!!! And what a show it was ?.At 67, the man and his band did not skip a beat.  His attire, stage presence, and extensive list of top hits including Rebel Yell (Billy's favorite) and Flesh for Fantasy (my favorite), brought not only a 1980s nostalgia but also a tremendous relief from the soulless wasteland of ...

  • I woke this morning to the sad news of Christie McVie's passing.  Suffice it to say, it has been a melancholy day.I am flooded with memories of Fleetwood Mac from the first time I heard Rumours to a recent conversation I had with a dear friend about Bob Marley and the Wailers, the warmup band for their 1980 European tour. More than just memories though, it is the indelible mark

  • I have a dear friend named David R. who's recently become a huge blues rock guitar fan.  In fact, he purchased a newer ZZ Top CD and an older Johnny Winter/Rick Derringer live album circa 1970 to turn me on to what are some of his favorites.  I would like to return the favor.  However, since he travels a lot and does not have access to a fine CD player (I am a HiFi snob) and because ...
