Ken Klemm is a skilled American buffalo rancher and, along with his business partner, Peter Thieriot, they make the principals of The Buffalo Guys. Since 1999, this business has been one of the country’s leading buffalo (American Bison) producers and meat providers. 

Ken brings a lifelong passion for the outdoors and ranching to The Buffalo Guys.  His extensive ranching skills have provided him with the expertise and vision to successfully run the company’s daily operations using his now >30-year experience with Holistic Management.  This management discipline has provided great success in restoring health to the lands and animals that he has managed in many different ecosystems.

Prior to The Buffalo Guys, Ken spent years in the backcountry of Wyoming where he perfected his skills as a licensed big game guide, packer, farrier and professional trapper.  Using his keen knowledge of big game and the land on which it roams, Ken eventually moved into managing one of the largest buffalo ranches in the West, overseeing the well-being of more than 3,500 bison and 3,000 cattle on over 115,000 acres. 

In 1995, Ken met Peter, sparking not only a solid friendship, but a new business venture, with each man bringing a unique background to the partnership.

Pursuing a long-held dream of owning his own ranch, in 2001, Ken and his wife Laurie purchased the Homestead Ranch in northwest Kansas.  The Buffalo Guys now own and manage 4,000+ acres of prime, native, buffalo range, where their herd of more than 600 buffalo grazes as it has for millennia.  The ranch also supports 100-200 head of grassfed Spanish cattle.  

Ken and his wife Laurie reside on the ranch where he and his wonderful team of helpers operate the enterprise. 

The Buffalo Guys believe that all animals should be treated with dignity, that the environment should be renewed through wise stewardship, that organic and sustainable agricultural practices are of supreme importance, and that what is produced for others to eat should be equal to or better in quality than what the producer would gladly eat at home.  When you buy meat from The Buffalo Guys you are buying the most delicious meat available and you can be assured the animals have never been given growth hormones or antibiotics.
