College students Beatriz and Iris are just starting a summer internship at an archaeology museum when they stumble miraculously into the mythical world of Tlön, where they encounter a mysterious people who can change gender at will (and sometimes without even meaning to). The two young women join a quest to free Tlön from foreign overlords whose power is centered in the far-off capital city. A cast of exotic, sometimes magical characters help them reach the capital's Infinite Library, where their quest deepens into a test of the natural world's strength in the face of crass evil.
