As children in foster care, Cecilia and Robin vowed they would be the sisters each had never had. Now superstar singer-songwriter Cecilia lives life on the edge, while Robin, once a successful photojournalist, struggles to create the loving family she yearned for.

When a near-fatal accident forces Robin to reevaulate her life, Cecilia asks her to be the still photographer for a documentary she is producing on foster care. Robin knows that Kris, her increasingly absent husband, will be forced to take charge for the months she's away.
