Among the Early Evangelicals charts a new course for the Stone-Campbell Movement. While
many historians have concentrated on the movement's American-only roots, Gorman suggests
that its earliest leaders were experienced participants in a transatlantic evangelical missionary
enterprise that utilized interdenominational cooperation based upon a primitive gospel to
evangelize the world and usher in the millennium.
