description
2In this pivotal Bible study by Adventist pioneer and scholar John Nevins (Andrews), questions about what really happened in 1844 and whether or not the "Investigative Judgment" really exists are answered. "The Great Disappointment" of 1844, when thousands of believers waited expectantly for Jesus to come, is carefully examined in the light of Scripture. With his typical carefulness, J. N. Andrews examines why the expectations of the Millerites and other Second Advent believers were not realized on October 22, 1844. Andrews also explains the dream of Hiram Edson, which was accepted by many of the believers as the explanation for why Christ didn't return on that day. Hiram Edson's dream, which laid the groundwork for Seventh-day Adventist beliefs about Christ's ministry in the heavenly sanctuary today, is also explained in this book, which was first printed many years ago on the Washington Hand Press.
