George Washington Sears (1821-1890), was a sportswriter for Forest and Stream magazine in the 1880s and an early conservationist. Although not as well known, he is one of the most influential American outdoorsmans and nature lovers alongside other greats like Horace Kephart and John Muir, and Henry David Thoreau.
Woodcraft & Camping, was written in 1884 as a basic guide into outdoors life. Although the text is nearing 140 years old it is still an informative and entertaining read to this day.
