8The Real Donkey is a collection of political essays written by the Reverend Dr. Robert Carol Emerson from 2001 until 2007 for The York Town Crier, his local weekly independent newspaper in Southeastern Virginia. The essays articulate the need for a more active role for all levels of government and seeks to empower the readers to hold firm to the vision of creating a More Perfect Union.
