The Preemie Project book started right after the crochet challenge put out by the Crochet Guild of America (CGOA) chapter challenge of crocheted Preemie Blankets. This book is a result of needing to create a knit book to co-inside with the crochet book. I kept in mind that Premature Babies need blankets that do not have lacy holes to get their fingers, toes, and neonatal equipment stuck into.
